Burren Irish Whiskey

Burren Distillers were launching their first release whiskey into a category crowded with established Irish heritage brands leaning on the same shorthand of green hills, Irish symbolism and ancestral typography. As a new entrant producing a genuinely rare, hand-distilled whiskey via the Sean Gael Method, they needed an identity that justified a premium position and signalled rarity at first glance, without resorting to category clichés.

Differentiation lay in the convergence of place, person, and method: the Burren’s limestone landscape, the Sean Gael tradition, and founder Noel Ó Lochlainn’s direct descent from Co. Clare’s 17th-century ruling clan. Together, these offered an authenticity competitors couldn’t manufacture.

Our idea was to create a whiskey like no other — an identity as singular as the liquid itself. Every element of the system, from the bespoke brandmark to the stone-inspired bottle form and refined palette, works to express rarity, craft, and rootedness in place. At the heart of it sits Noel Ó Lochlainn’s thumbprint: a nod to the Sean Gael method, where everything is done by hand.
